Many BEP souvenir cards depicting beautiful currency faces or backs are listed by Fr. number. This is a wonderful way to collect Gem quality examples of otherwise very expensive or unobtainable notes. Please note that I do not use Gem in describing notes because there is too much variation in the grade. Instead I use Ch.CU with a centering description. Many of notes listed as Ch.CU (xf) and some with (vf) centering were purchased as Gems. As for centering I use:
(xf) perfectly centered or very nearly so
(vf) slight shift on one or two margins. Many of the notes I buy as Gem I downgrade to Ch.CU (vf)
(f) noticeable shift in one direction but not touching the design
(g) one or more sides touch the design
Notes are listed by Friedberg, Murray, and Pick references.
